KUALA LUMPUR, June 18 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia and Russia will pursue cooperation in the energy supply as well as trade in local currencies and other key areas, the Malaysian Prime Minister's Office said on Thursday.
Other sectors of interest include visa-free travel, cybersecurity, digital, artificial intelligence, modern agriculture and pharmaceuticals, it said in a statement following Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the ASEAN-Russia Summit in Kazan, Russia.
"The two leaders touched on efforts to expand economic cooperation, including appreciating the Russian Federation's determination to provide long-term cooperation in the areas of energy and oil supply... Discussions also included efforts to facilitate the movement of people through the abolition of visas, as well as exploring mechanisms to expand bilateral trade and investment using local currencies (Ringgit and Ruble)," it added. ■
