TEHRAN, June 17 (Xinhua) -- Iranian media released the text of a U.S.-Iran memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Wednesday.
Under the deal, Washington commits to withdrawing troops from Iran's surrounding region, launching reconstruction efforts, lifting sanctions in accordance with the timetable in the final agreement, and unfreezing all restricted Iranian funds upon implementation of the MoU.
In return, Iran will ensure free and safe passage for commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz for 60 days, while both sides also agree to address stored enriched materials through a mutually agreed mechanism. ■
