GENEVA, June 17 (Xinhua) -- The International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) announced on Wednesday that its 2026 Refugee Team will compete at the World Championships in Ningbo, China, from October 27 to November 8.
The team is composed of Ramiro Mora, Clementine Noumbissi and Fatemah Keshavarz, all of whom are based in Britain and are part of the IOC Refugee Scholarship program, the IWF said.
Mora, originally from Cuba, was a member of the Olympic Refugee Team at the Paris Olympic Games in 2024, finishing seventh in the men's 102kg category. Noumbissi, born in Cameroon, won the women's 90kg bronze medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. Keshavarz, who represented Iran until 2024, took silver in the women's 71kg at the 2023 Asian Championships.
The IWF launched its first Refugee Team in 2023. ■
