MOSCOW/MINSK, June 17 (Xinhua) -- A bus carrying a Belarusian youth football team was hit by a Ukrainian drone while traveling in Russia's Bryansk region, killing one person and injuring seven others, including five children, local authorities said on Wednesday.
A fixed-wing drone hit the bus as it was transporting the team from the Belarusian city of Gomel to Gelendzhik for a holiday, acting regional governor Yegor Kravchuk wrote on his Telegram channel.
The vehicle was carrying 44 passengers, including 28 young athletes. The injured were hospitalized and are receiving medical treatment, according to Kravchuk.
Belarus strongly condemned the attack on the civilian bus carrying Belarusian citizens, including children, Belarusian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ruslan Varankov said on Wednesday.
Belarusian authorities are demanding comprehensive explanations from the Ukrainian side regarding the attack, the official said.
The Ukrainian side has not yet issued an official response to the incident. ■
