KUALA LUMPUR, June 16 (Xinhua) -- The acceptance and use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in work and daily life is highly positive among Malaysians, according to a study by global polling research firm Ipsos released on Tuesday.

Some 82 percent of Malaysians surveyed said AI tools had saved them time at work in the past year, higher than the global average of 62 percent, according to the findings of the Ipsos AI Monitor 2026.

On overall sentiment, 70 percent of Malaysians said AI products and services had more benefits than drawbacks, which is above the global average of 55 percent and higher than Western Europe and the United States, where the figures stood at 44 percent and 38 percent, respectively.

However, in broader terms, Malaysians remain less certain that AI will improve the wider job market and national economy, with 73 percent of Malaysians fearing that AI will cause significant job losses, surpassing the global average of 65 percent.

Ipsos conducted the survey on its Global Advisor online platform between March 20 and April 3 this year, involving 23,532 adults across 32 countries and regions. Some 500 of those surveyed were Malaysians aged 18 to 74.
