KABUL, June 16 (Xinhua) -- The Center for Strategic Studies of Afghanistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs convened the Afghanistan-Central Asia Think Tank Forum in the capital Kabul on Tuesday, bringing together heads and senior delegations from strategic research institutions across the region.

In his keynote address, Afghan Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi underscored the gathering's aim to deepen regional ties, moving beyond current levels of engagement toward a phase of profound and sustainable convergence.

Afghanistan, bound to Central Asia by deep religious, civilizational, geographical and economic ties, firmly believes that a stable, prosperous and secure future for the region can only be achieved through enhanced cooperation, mutual trust, regional connectivity, and a collective understanding of shared interests, Muttaqi said.

He expressed confidence that the forum would serve as a platform to identify and strengthen avenues for scientific, academic and intellectual collaboration among the region's premier think tanks.
