WUHAN, June 15 (Xinhua) -- The 2026 World Youth Development Forum opened in the central Chinese city of Wuhan on Monday, attracting over 500 participants from UN agencies, international youth organizations and more than 120 countries.

Under the theme "Youth Drive Development for a Better World," the forum features three thematic sessions on creative economy and trendy culture, artificial intelligence and youth empowerment, as well as volunteerism and poverty reduction. Representatives from countries including France, Brazil, Germany, Australia, Kenya and China showcased youth-led projects covering a wide range of issues, such as climate governance, innovation and entrepreneurship.

During the event, Xinhua Institute, a think tank affiliated with Xinhua News Agency, released a report titled "Chinese Youth: Strivers and Global Contributors in the New Era."

The event serves as an important occasion to pool youth strength for implementing the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the China-proposed Global Development Initiative.

The forum is co-hosted by the All-China Youth Federation, United Nations in China and the organizing committee of the forum.
