JERUSALEM, June 14 (Xinhua) -- The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) claimed Sunday that it has killed senior Hezbollah commander Ali Musa Daqduq in an airstrike south of the Litani River in southern Lebanon over the weekend.

The IDF said in a statement that Daqduq held multiple high-level positions within the group, including head of the security unit for Hezbollah's former longtime leader Hassan Nasrallah, who was killed in an Israeli strike in September 2024.

Daqduq also served as a commander in Hezbollah's elite Radwan Force, a senior operative in the Nasser unit's operations department, and chief of the group's infantry division.

In addition, Daqduq led a militant network built along the Syrian-Israeli border, and was imprisoned by U.S. forces in 2007 over the kidnapping and killing of five U.S. soldiers in Iraq.

So far, there has been no official comment from Hezbollah on the IDF's claim.
