JAKARTA, June 15 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's energy minister on Monday proposed a budget to revive an electric stove conversion program aimed at reducing the country's heavy reliance on imported liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia presented the proposal during a parliamentary hearing, saying the initiative forms part of the government's broader strategy to diversify energy consumption.

The energy transition the country is promoting is not only about LPG, but also electric stoves, compressed natural gas, and other alternatives, Bahlil told lawmakers.

Indonesia imports around 80 percent of its LPG consumption, according to the minister.
