BARCELONA, Spain, June 13 (Xinhua) -- This year marks the 100th anniversary of the death of Antoni Gaudi, the Spanish architect widely regarded as the greatest exponent of Catalan Modernism. Gaudi created some of the world's most celebrated architectural masterpieces, seven of which have been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Barcelona, the Mediterranean city where Gaudi lived and worked, provided the cultural environment and urban canvas for his architectural vision to flourish. In turn, Gaudi transformed Barcelona's identity through his distinctive creations, many of which have become enduring symbols of the city.
