JAKARTA, June 12 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono on Friday reaffirmed the government's commitment to strengthening economic diplomacy to boost public prosperity.
The government wants to cooperate with all parties in the economic field based on the principles of mutual respect and mutual benefit to achieve shared gains that can be used for the prosperity and welfare of the people, Sugiono said at an event held by the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) in Jakarta.
Sugiono said strong interest from foreign companies to invest and participate in Indonesia's economic development reflected growing international confidence in the country's economic prospects.
Speaking at the same event, KADIN Chairman Anindya Novyan Bakrie said economic diplomacy had become an important instrument for strengthening Indonesia's position globally.
Bakrie noted that KADIN's primary focus remains on increasing trade and investment, which in turn would help create jobs and support economic growth. ■
