JERUSALEM, June 12 (Xinhua) -- The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on Friday that it had killed three militant commanders in the Gaza Strip in precise strikes carried out a day earlier.
The IDF said in a statement that those killed were identified as Qasslam Hassan Saleh and Sami Jamil Abu Dalal, both platoon commanders in the Islamic Jihad movement, and Ubay Mamoun Saleh Farwana, a deputy company commander of Hamas.
The military said the three were involved in planning imminent attacks against Israeli troops and posed an immediate threat.
It added that measures were taken to minimize civilian harm, including the use of precision-guided munitions and aerial surveillance.
In a separate statement, the Israeli military said its forces struck and dismantled three Hamas weapons storage sites in central Gaza overnight.
The facilities contained launchers, mortar shells, RPGs, explosive devices, firearms, and other military equipment, according to the IDF. ■
