SEOUL, June 12 (Xinhua) -- Seoul Central District Court on Friday sentenced a 30-year prison term for ex-president Yoon Suk-yeol on general treason, multiple local media outlets reported.
South Korea's special counsel in April sought a 30-year sentence for Yoon over general treason linked to the drone infiltration into the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK). Yoon was accused of ordering the operation around October 2024 with the intent of militarily provoking the DPRK in a bid to create a pretext for his martial law declaration in December of the same year. ■
