SINGAPORE, June 12 (Xinhua) -- Singapore has launched a Standards and Conformance 2035 roadmap to help businesses remain competitive amid geopolitical tensions, evolving trade rules and rapid technological change, Enterprise Singapore said Friday.
The government agency, which champions enterprise development, said in a statement that the roadmap outlines a strategy to strengthen Singapore's standards and conformance ecosystem, deepen international partnerships and support companies seeking access to global markets.
As businesses navigate fragmented regulations and more complex cross-border trade flows, robust standards and conformance systems have become increasingly important, it noted.
The roadmap focuses on three areas: driving economic growth through wider adoption of standards and certification, building a future-ready ecosystem, and strengthening Singapore's position as a trusted regional and global standards hub.
Enterprise Singapore said it will help companies secure early certification and adopt standards in emerging sectors such as artificial intelligence (AI), precision medicine and offshore wind.
"Beyond our strong foundation in health, safety and environment, we are looking at emerging areas such as AI governance and sustainability, where credibility and interoperability are increasingly critical," said Choy Sauw Kook, director-general of Enterprise Singapore's Quality and Excellence Group. ■
