BERLIN, June 12 (Xinhua) -- Schalke 04 has signed Junior Adamu from Freiburg on a contract until June 30, 2029, adding intensity and flexibility to their attack, the newly promoted Gelsenkirchen club announced on Thursday.
The 25-year-old, capped nine times for Austria, spent the second half of last season on loan at Celtic, where he celebrated a league title and cup triumph.
Adamu becomes Schalke's latest arrival after the club brought in Satoshi Tanaka from Fortuna Duesseldorf.
Born in Kano, Nigeria, Adamu moved to Austria as a one-year-old and played youth football in Graz before progressing through Salzburg's academy and farm team Liefering. He was loaned to St Gallen. ■
