MADRID, June 10 (Xinhua) -- La Liga side Sevilla has signed former Alaves and Real Sociedad midfielder Jon Guridi on a free transfer until June 2028.
The 31-year-old arrives at Sevilla after four seasons with Alaves, scoring seven goals in 135 league appearances after joining from Real Sociedad in the summer of 2022.
The move sees Guridi re-united with Luis Garcia Plaza, who has been confirmed as Sevilla coach for next season after helping the club avoid relegation at the end of the 2025-26 season.
Plaza was Alaves coach from 2022-24 with his time at the club coinciding with some of Guridi's best performances.
Elsewhere in Spain, Rayo Vallecano midfielder Unai Lopez has signed a new three-year contract with the Madrid-based club that he helped to last season's Conference League final.
Lopez joined Rayo from Athletic Bilbao in 2021 on loan after two previous loan spells on the second division in 2017 and 2018.
However, his failure to agree a new deal had raised expectation he would either return to Bilbao or move to Greek side Olympiacos, but he is now set to stay at the Vallecas Stadium until June 2029 when he will be 33. ■
