ISTANBUL, June 11 (Xinhua) -- The active phase of Türkiye's largest naval exercise concluded on Thursday with the Distinguished Observer Day in the Gulf of Antalya off Türkiye's southern coast, the National Defense Ministry said.
Dubbed "Denizkurdu-2" (Sea Wolf-2), the massive joint exercise, involving 125 vessels, 60 aircraft, and approximately 18,000 personnel, has been underway across Türkiye's surrounding seas since June 4.
Thursday's drills were highlighted by the consecutive firing of eight guided missiles and a torpedo at four decommissioned vessels at sea, according to the ministry.
During a press briefing, Rear Admiral Zeki Akturk, the ministry's spokesperson, said the exercise aimed to assess naval command efficiency and sharpen troops' decision-making in multi-threat environments.
Following the active phase, 32 warships will engage in port visits leading up to June 14. ■
