KABUL, June 11 (Xinhua) -- Construction work on two major check dam projects has begun in Gilan district of Afghanistan's Ghazni province, the provincial government office said Thursday.
According to the statement, the projects are expected to improve water conservation, support agricultural activities, and enhance the management of water resources in the area.
Authorities said the construction work is scheduled to be completed within six months.
In recent years, Afghan authorities have launched many water infrastructure projects across the country aimed at strengthening agricultural production, improving water resource management, and mitigating the impact of climate-related challenges. ■
