China names esports squad for 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games

BEIJING, June 11 (Xinhua) -- China's sports authorities on Thursday announced the roster for the esports competitions at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.

According to a statement released by the Information Center of China's General Administration of Sport, a total of 23 athletes and four coaches have been named to the national esports team.

Esports will feature 11 medal events at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, scheduled to run from Sept. 19 to Oct. 4 in Japan. China will compete in four events: Honor of Kings, PUBG Mobile (Asian Games Version), Naraka: Bladepoint, and Identity V (Asian Games Version).

China secured direct qualification in Honor of Kings and PUBG Mobile as the defending champion from the Hangzhou Asian Games in 2023. The powerhouse also earned berths in Naraka: Bladepoint and Identity V through qualifiers earlier this month, with both games making their Asian Games debut.

The selected squad includes six players for Honor of Kings, five for PUBG Mobile, five for Naraka: Bladepoint, and seven for Identity V, alongside one coach for each discipline.

Esports made its official medal debut at the Hangzhou Asian Games, where China topped the medal table with four gold medals.
