Scientists have uncovered a vast "whale necropolis" nearly 7,000 meters deep in the southeastern Indian Ocean, home to the largest and deepest collection of whale remains ever found, including five active whale-fall ecosystems and hundreds of fossil sites spanning at least 5.3 million years.■
