MADRID, June 10 (Xinhua) -- Osasuna on Wednesday confirmed Luis Miguel Ramis as its new first-team coach, with the 55-year-old signing a two-year contract until the end of June 2028.

The former Real Madrid defender, who came close to leading Burgos to the Segunda Division playoffs this season, replaces Alessio Lisci, who was sacked after a disastrous run of defeats at the end of the campaign saw the Pamplona-based club fall from contention for European qualification to surviving in La Liga only on goal difference.

It will be Ramis' first experience coaching in Spain's top flight, although he has extensive experience in the second tier. After a spell in charge of Real Madrid's B team, he went on to coach Almeria, Albacete, Tenerife, Espanyol and Burgos.

Ramis spent the last two seasons at Burgos before announcing his departure at the end of the campaign after the club missed out on the playoffs on goal difference.

His teams are generally regarded as well organized and defensively solid, with Burgos conceding just 33 goals in 42 matches last season.
