DHAKA, June 10 (Xinhua) -- Bangladesh's economy crossed the half-a-trillion U.S. dollar mark for the first time in the current fiscal year 2025-26, ending this month.
According to a provisional estimate by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) released on Wednesday, the South Asian country's gross domestic product at current prices rose to 501 billion dollars from 456 billion dollars a year earlier.
It said Bangladesh's economy is projected to grow 4.14 percent in the current 2025-26 fiscal year (July 2025-June 2026).
Meanwhile, per capita income is forecast to rise to 3,020 dollars in the current fiscal year from 2,769 dollars in the previous year.
However, according to BBS, sector-wise growth shows a slight rise in agriculture, industry and services. ■
