KABUL, June 10 (Xinhua) -- Afghan counter-narcotics police dismantled a methamphetamine production laboratory in northern Baghlan province and arrested six individuals, the provincial police said on Wednesday.
The facility was uncovered and smashed during an intelligence-led operation on the outskirts of Tala wa Barfak district, according to a police statement.
The six suspects, who were operating the lab, were detained and their cases referred to the judiciary for further investigation. The raid is the latest in a series of Afghan police actions against illicit drug production.
Recently, security forces also seized drugs and demolished processing labs in the southern province of Uruzgan and the western province of Farah a couple of days ago.
The Afghan government has pledged to combat drug production and trafficking as part of broader efforts to maintain law and order. ■
