MEXICO CITY, June 9 (Xinhua) -- Mexico will hold talks with the United States this week to strengthen bilateral cooperation on key issues, including border security, law enforcement and migration, Foreign Minister Roberto Velasco said Tuesday.

Security working groups from both sides will meet Friday in Mexico City to push forward cooperation in border security, combating fentanyl trafficking, and illicit finance, the minister told a daily press conference.

Velasco also said he talked with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio on the phone Monday to coordinate a face-to-face meeting to strengthen dialogues on key issues of bilateral relationship, including negotiations on the United States-Canada-Mexico agreement.

In recent months Mexico and the United States have held a series of talks on border security, migration and efforts to combat fentanyl trafficking, issues that have featured prominently in bilateral relations.
