ISLAMABAD, June 10 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan received 4.25 billion U.S. dollars in workers' remittances in May 2026, registering a 15.4-percent increase year-on-year and a 20.2-percent rise from the previous month, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) said on Wednesday.

According to data released by the central bank, cumulative remittance inflows reached 38.1 billion U.S. dollars during the July-May period of fiscal year 2025-26, up 9.2 percent from 34.9 billion U.S. dollars recorded in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.

Saudi Arabia remained the largest source of remittances, with overseas Pakistanis sending 1.03 billion U.S. dollars in May.

Remittances from the United Arab Emirates surged to 1.01 billion U.S. dollars in May, up 33 percent year-on-year and 37 percent month-on-month.

Inflows from Britain stood at 645 million U.S. dollars during the month, while remittances from the United States totaled 350 million U.S. dollars, rising 10 percent from April.

Pakistanis living in European Union countries sent 466 million U.S. dollars in May, an increase of 8 percent compared to the previous month, the SBP said.
