ZAGREB, June 9 (Xinhua) -- Croatia's Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries on Tuesday confirmed a new case of African Swine Fever (ASF) at a small farm in the eastern part of the country.
According to the ministry, the Croatian Veterinary Institute detected the case at a farm in Ivanovo, a village in Osijek-Baranja County.
Following confirmation of the new ASF case, veterinary authorities began implementing control measures, including the mandatory culling and safe disposal of all susceptible animals at the farm. A total of 62 animals will be culled.
An epidemiological investigation is underway to determine the source of the infection and identify potential contacts, the ministry said, adding that relevant authorities are scheduled to meet on Friday to finalize further response measures. ■
