TAIYUAN, June 10 (Xinhua) -- Zhang Heping, deputy head of the emergency management department of north China's Shanxi Province, is under investigation on suspicion of severe violations of discipline and law in connection with a deadly coal mine gas explosion, authorities said on Wednesday.
The gas explosion, which occurred on May 22 at the Liushenyu coal mine in Qinyuan County of the city of Changzhi in Shanxi, resulted in heavy casualties. ■
