BEIRUT, June 8 (Xinhua) -- The total war damages in the Lebanese capital Beirut and its surrounding governorate of Mount Lebanon is estimated to exceed 365 million U.S. dollars between February and April 14, according to an assessment released by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) on Monday.
During the period, more than 400 buildings and dozens of apartments in Beirut and Mount Lebanon sustained varying degrees of war-related damage, the report said.
Mount Lebanon bore the brunt of the damage, with an estimated 349.7 million dollars in losses, while damage in Beirut was valued at about 15.4 million dollars, the report added.
On April 21, Lebanese Finance Minister Yassine Jaber told local media that Lebanon had suffered at least 3 billion dollars in war-related losses by then, as Israel continued its military operations against Hezbollah in Lebanon. ■
