ULAN BATOR, June 9 (Xinhua) -- Mongolia's inflation rate, measured by the Consumer Price Index, reached 11.2 percent in May, according to data released by the country's National Statistics Office on Monday.
The figure increased by 2.9 percentage points compared with the same period last year, the data showed.
The rise in inflation was mainly driven by higher prices of imported goods, as well as increases in the prices of meat and certain domestically produced commodities, the statistics office said.
According to the Bank of Mongolia, the country aims to maintain inflation at around 5 percent from 2027 onward in order to ensure macroeconomic and financial stability. ■
