DOHA, June 8 (Xinhua) -- Qatar's Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani held separate phone calls on Monday with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi and Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud to discuss regional developments.

According to statements released by Qatar's Foreign Ministry, the Qatari prime minister and Araghchi reviewed mediation efforts between the United States and Iran, as well as the latest developments in Lebanon.

During the call, he reaffirmed Qatar's support for all efforts aimed at containing escalation and reaching a comprehensive agreement that would contribute to strengthening security and stability and achieving lasting peace in the region.

In a phone conversation with the Saudi foreign minister, the two sides reviewed ways to further enhance bilateral cooperation.

They also discussed mediation efforts between the United States and Iran and coordination aimed at supporting initiatives to de-escalate tensions and reinforce regional security and stability.

Al Thani stressed the importance of all parties responding positively to the ongoing mediation efforts in a manner that would pave the way for addressing the root causes of the crisis through peaceful means and dialogue, ultimately leading to a sustainable agreement that prevents renewed escalation, according to the statements.
