TEHRAN, June 8 (Xinhua) -- Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) said its forces on Monday retaliated against a "U.S. and Israeli aggression" against a petrochemical company in southwestern Iran by carrying out a missile attack on similar industries in the northern Israeli city of Haifa.
The IRGC said in a statement that by taking action against Iran's civilian targets and oil industries, the Israeli "enemy has started a dangerous game, the scopes of which will encompass all energy targets in the (West Asian) region."
It added that the United States would be responsible for the consequences of "this dangerous game" for the global economy.
Israel on Monday morning carried out an airstrike against Karun Petrochemical Company in Iran's southwestern Khuzestan province, damaging part of the petrochemical complex, the semi-official Fars news agency reported, quoting Valiollah Hayati, Khuzestan's deputy governor for security affairs, as saying.
He added that no casualty has been reported so far and that further details will be provided later. ■
