TEHRAN, June 8 (Xinhua) -- Iran's Airports and Air Navigation Company said on Monday all flights at airports across the country have been canceled until further notice, the official news agency IRNA reported.
The announcement came after Iran's Civil Aviation Authority issued a notice earlier on Monday that the country's western airspace had been closed until further notice in view of the "security and safety assessments," the report said.
The company added that only the Mashhad Hashemi Nejad International Airport in northeastern Iran remains operational to facilitate Iranian pilgrims' return from Hajj rituals in Saudi Arabia, the report added.
The developments followed renewed strikes between Iran and Israel, which started Sunday night. Flights had already been canceled earlier on Monday at Tehran's Mehrabad and Imam Khomeini international airports, Mashhad's airport, and airports in western Iran. ■
