KAMPALA, June 7 (Xinhua) -- Uganda Premier League champion Vipers SC has mutually parted ways with Belgian head coach Ivan Jacky Minnaert following the expiration of his contract, the club announced on Sunday.

"Vipers Sports Club is pleased to announce that it has mutually parted ways with head coach Ivan Minnaert, after the expiry of his contract," the club said in a statement.

Minnaert, who joined Vipers SC in July 2025, guided the team to a successful defense of the Uganda Premier League title. However, the club fell short of completing a domestic double after failing to win the Uganda Cup.

"The club appreciates Minnaert's dedicated service and professionalism to Vipers SC and wishes him the best in his career path," the statement added.

Before joining the Ugandan side, Minnaert led Fassell FC to the Liberia Premier League title. The Belgian coach has also managed several clubs across Africa and Europe, including Libya's Al-Ittihad Tripoli, Spain's Union Estepona CF, Kenya's AFC Leopards and Rwanda's Rayon Sports.

Vipers SC will represent Uganda at the 2026 CECAFA Kagame Club Cup in Rwanda next month and in the 2026/27 CAF Champions League, which is scheduled to kick off in September.
