SINGAPORE, June 5 (Xinhua) -- China beat Singapore 2-1 in an international friendly on Friday as star striker Wu Lei celebrated his 100th cap.
22-year-old goalkeeper Li Hao made his senior debut at the Jalan Besar Stadium after a strong showing at the AFC U23 Asian Cup in January, while three under-21 players, Wang Yudong, Mao Weijie and Yang Xi also started.
Sai Erjini'ao opened the scoring in the 16th minute from close range following a cross by Xie Wenneng, his first goal for China. Zhang Yuning doubled the lead from the penalty spot in the 41st minute after Hariss Harun was penalized for a handball.
Singapore pulled one back in the 76th minute when Zhu Chenjie's clearance attempt fell short, allowing Ilhan Fandi to slot home a left-footed finish from the center of the box.
Wu came off the bench in the 81st minute to mark his 100th appearance for China.
China will next face Thailand on June 9 in Jinhua, Zhejiang province, the team's first home match under new head coach Shao Jiayi, who took charge in November last year. ■
