SANAA, June 4 (Xinhua) -- Leader of Yemen's Houthi movement Abdul-Malik al-Houthi said on Thursday that the group was prepared for any escalation in the Middle East, while warning regional actors against becoming involved in a broader conflict amid rising tensions.
Speaking in a televised address aired by the Houthi-run Al-Masirah TV channel, al-Houthi said his armed movement was closely coordinating with its regional allies over developments in Lebanon and the Palestinian territories.
He accused the United States of pursuing policies that could expand the scope of regional confrontations and increase instability in the Middle East.
Al-Houthi said the Houthis were maintaining coordination with members of the "axis of resistance" and were prepared to respond to any new developments arising from the current situation.
Earlier this week, senior Houthi official Mohammed al-Farah warned of a "major and comprehensive" response if Israeli military actions in Lebanon continued to intensify. ■
