DUBAI, June 5 (Xinhua) -- Dubai has unveiled a series of events for the second half of 2026 as the emirate seeks to sustain tourism growth and reinforce confidence in its economy following disruptions caused by the U.S.-Israeli war against Iran.
At a briefing earlier this week, Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism announced a lineup of events, including the Dubai Summer Surprises in July, featuring retail promotions and entertainment programs during the summer.
The department said the initiatives form part of broader efforts to sustain the emirate's status as a leading destination for business, tourism, innovation and investment while maintaining growth momentum.
It also highlighted major infrastructure projects, including new metro lines and the expansion of Al Maktoum International Airport, which is expected to become one of the world's largest aviation hubs.
Official statistics showed Dubai welcomed 19.59 million international overnight visitors in 2025, marking a third consecutive year of record-breaking tourism arrivals.
Regional conflict triggered by the United States and Israeli strikes on Iran in late February disrupted travel and tourism activity across the Gulf, posing a particular challenge for Dubai, whose economy relies heavily on tourism, trade and aviation. ■
