JAKARTA, June 4 (Xinhua) -- A fire swept through a densely populated neighborhood in central Jakarta early Thursday, destroying 30 homes and affecting around 240 residents, local authorities said.
According to Jakarta's Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency, the blaze broke out at around 12:20 a.m. local time in the Johar Baru district and was extinguished at approximately 4:20 a.m.
Authorities said information on casualties and estimated losses was still being compiled, and the cause of the fire was still under investigation. ■
