SINGAPORE, June 3 (Xinhua) -- Life expectancy in Singapore rose to 83.9 years in 2025, surpassing pre-pandemic levels, according to official data released on Wednesday.
Life expectancy at birth for Singapore residents increased by 0.2 years from 83.7 years in 2024 and was also above the previous pre-pandemic peak of 83.7 years recorded in 2019, the Singapore Department of Statistics said in a statement.
Compared with 2015, life expectancy improved by 1 year from 82.9 years.
Male residents born in 2025 are expected to live 81.8 years on average, up 0.3 years from 2024 and 1.3 years from 2015. Female life expectancy rose to 86 years, 0.2 years higher than in 2024 and 0.9 years above the 2015 level.
Longevity gains were also recorded among older residents. Singaporeans aged 65 in 2025 can expect to live to 86.6 years on average, an increase of 0.2 years from 2024 and 0.8 years from a decade ago. ■
