ULAN BATOR, June 3 (Xinhua) -- Rare summer snowfall was recorded in central Mongolia on Wednesday, local media reported, citing the National Agency for Meteorology and Environmental Monitoring.
The snow, which fell in Yesunzuil soum (an administrative subdivision) of Uvurkhangai province, accumulated to a depth of between 10 and 15 centimeters.
Although Mongolia is known for its harsh continental climate and long winters, snowfall during the summer months is a rare phenomenon. ■
