JAKARTA, June 2 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's annual inflation rate rose to 3.08 percent in May 2026, with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) reaching 111.40, according to data released by Statistics Indonesia (BPS) on Tuesday.

Despite the increase, inflation remained within a manageable range as the government and central bank continued efforts to maintain macroeconomic stability amid global uncertainty.

Indonesia's exports in the January-April period rose 5.48 percent year on year to 92.15 billion U.S. dollars, supported by stronger demand for commodities and manufactured goods.

Indonesia also posted a trade surplus of 5.64 billion dollars during the first four months of 2026, driven by a non-oil and gas surplus of 14.16 billion dollars, which offset an oil and gas deficit of 8.52 billion dollars.

The combination of moderate inflation and solid export growth is expected to support Southeast Asia's largest economy amid ongoing external challenges.
