DAR ES SALAAM, June 2 (Xinhua) -- Tanzania is targeting an economic growth of 6.3 percent in 2026 as part of its key priorities for the 2026/2027 fiscal year, Minister of Finance Khamis Omar said Tuesday.

When presenting the ministry's budget estimates in parliament in Dodoma, Omar said the government also aims to maintain inflation within a range of 3.0 to 5.0 percent and ensure foreign exchange reserves cover at least four months of imports.

He said the government will reinforce fiscal discipline by improving revenue collection, resource allocation, procurement practices and value for money, while minimizing budget reallocations.

The minister added that enhanced revenue, grants and loan management systems are expected to contribute about 22.1 billion U.S. dollars to the central government fund, equivalent to 88.6 percent of the total budget estimates of about 24.9 billion dollars.

He added that the government plans to build capacity among public servants in environmental, social and governance standards, as well as the application of artificial intelligence in managing public finance and the economy.
