S. Korea's corporate bond sale logs double-digit growth in April

SEOUL, June 2 (Xinhua) -- South Korea's corporate bond sale logged a double-digit growth due to strong financing demand from financial companies, financial watchdog data showed Tuesday.

The issuance of corporate bonds advanced 13.6 percent from a month earlier to 22.20 trillion won (14.8 billion U.S. dollars) in April, according to the Financial Supervisory Service.

Bonds sold by industrial companies declined 12.7 percent to 4.17 trillion won (2.8 billion dollars), but financial firms' bond sales jumped 24 percent to 16.67 trillion won (11.1 billion dollars).

Outstanding corporate bonds totaled 745.28 trillion won (495.3 billion dollars) at the end of April, down 0.3 percent from a month earlier.

Equity financing, including initial public offerings and rights issuance, totalled 413.6 billion won (274.9 million dollars) in April, down 6.0 percent from the previous month.
