MOSCOW, June 1 (Xinhua) -- Russia's largest oil company, Rosneft, on Monday reported a 5.2 percent quarter-on-quarter increase in its oil refining to 18.9 million tonnes in the first quarter of 2026.
"The refining volume growth comes as several refineries resumed operations after late-2025 maintenance and overhaul works. Oil refining depth reached 76.9 percent, and the yield of light petroleum products hit 59.6 percent," the company said in a statement.
Rosneft sold 9.7 million tonnes of petroleum products on domestic market in the quarter, including 3.1 million tonnes of gasoline and 3.7 million tonnes of diesel. Stable supplies of high-quality motor fuels to Russian consumers remain one of Rosneft's core operational priorities.
Rosneft CEO Igor Sechin said the global oil industry faces extreme price volatility in 2026. Crude prices stagnated in January and February before rallying in March amid escalating tensions in the Middle East. Sechin also noted major operational risks, including crude intake restrictions on pipeline systems, export terminal disruptions, and attacks on production facilities.
Rosneft's total hydrocarbon output reached 63.1 million tonnes of oil equivalent in the first quarter of 2026, up from 61.2 million tonnes in the same quarter of 2025. The output comprised 45.2 million tonnes of liquid hydrocarbons and 21.8 billion cubic meters of gas, while its average daily hydrocarbon production rose 0.9 percent from the previous quarter to 5.214 million barrels of oil equivalent per day, according to the company. ■
