KAMPALA, June 2 (Xinhua) -- Uganda's national woodball team has intensified preparations for the 2026 Woodball World Cup Championship, scheduled to take place in Malaysia next month.
The 10th Woodball World Cup Championship, expected to attract participants from more than 25 countries and regions, will be held from July 24 in Perlis, Malaysia.
Uganda's newly appointed head coach, Onesmus Atamba, told Xinhua on Tuesday that the team had already begun training for the global event.
"Going to a World Cup means a team has to prepare well enough because we shall face equally good teams," Atamba said.
The coach said he was honored to take charge of the national team ahead of the tournament.
"I am excited about being entrusted to manage the national team. I know the players well enough and I am ready to work with them so that we get the best results," he said. ■
