DAR ES SALAAM, June 2 (Xinhua) -- A Chinese-manufactured electric reach stacker was officially delivered in Dar es Salaam on Monday, marking the entry and operational debut of this new-energy logistics equipment in the Tanzania market.
The equipment has been acquired by Azam Inland Container Depot, a subsidiary of the Bakhresa Group. Ali Mukadam, the group's chief executive officer, said that this investment reflects their commitment to operational excellence and sustainable growth.
"By adopting green technology, we are enhancing productivity and safety while reducing emissions and energy consumption," Mukadam said.
Speaking at the launch event in Dar es Salaam, Li Yu, general manager of the African region at the electric reach stacker manufacturer, Guangxi LiuGong Machinery, said the introduction is a significant step toward advancing green and intelligent logistics solutions in Africa.
The company has already deployed electric excavators, wheel loaders and mining trucks in Africa, supporting the region's shift toward low-carbon development, Li said.
Jackline Wikechi, an environmental management officer with the National Environment Management Council, said that the Tanzanian government supports the development of green, low-carbon technologies and eco-friendly projects, adding that more advanced electrified equipment is welcome in the local market to promote sustainable development. ■
