ISLAMABAD, June 2 (Xinhua) -- A vehicle carrying tourists fell into a ravine in Pakistan's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Tuesday, killing seven people, rescue officials said.
The accident occurred on the Karakoram Highway in Kohistan district of the province when the vehicle lost control and fell into the deep ravine, Rescue 1122 officials said.
Six tourists were killed on the spot, while another succumbed to his injuries on the way to a hospital, said the rescue officials, adding that they were on their way to eastern Rawalpindi district from northern Gilgit Baltistan region.
Following the accident, rescue teams and local volunteers reached the site and retrieved the bodies and the injured, and shifted them to a nearby hospital, according to the local police. ■
