KAMPALA, June 1 (Xinhua) -- The Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) said on Monday that 580 people who came into contact with Uganda's nine confirmed Ebola cases are currently under follow-up.

In an Ebola outbreak update posted on social media platform X, the Africa CDC said that as of May 30, national response teams and partners were monitoring the contacts. The agency noted that Uganda has recorded nine confirmed cases and one death linked to the outbreak, adding that three of the confirmed cases are health workers.

"Every contact followed, every sample tested, and every frontline worker protected brings the response closer to interrupting transmission," the agency said.

According to the Africa CDC, it continues to support Uganda's response efforts in collaboration with partners through surveillance, contact tracing, laboratory testing, case management and community engagement.
