VIENTIANE, June 1 (Xinhua) -- Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone has extended warm wishes to children and youth nationwide and abroad on International Children's Day on June 1, reaffirming the government's commitment to protecting children's rights and supporting their safe and healthy development while highlighting their vital role in the nation's future.
In his message, Sonexay emphasized that children are the nation's future and a driving force for its development, stressing that their care, protection, and empowerment are shared responsibilities across society.
Noting that International Children's Day coincides with Laos' National Arbor Day, Sonexay encouraged children to develop a sense of responsibility toward nature and environmental protection from an early age. He compared children to young saplings that require care, guidance, and education from parents, teachers, and society to grow into capable, knowledgeable, and responsible citizens. ■
