ULAN BATOR -- An outbreak of the highly contagious foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) has been confirmed in western Mongolia's Khovd province, local media reported on Saturday, citing the provincial governor's office.

"Laboratory testing has confirmed an outbreak of the highly contagious FMD virus in Bulgan soum (an administrative subdivision) of Khovd province. So far, 35 cattle belonging to seven herder households have been infected," the governor's office said in a statement. (Mongolia-FMD)

KABUL -- Four tourists went missing and their driver was injured after their car plunged into a river in Nuristan province, east of Afghanistan, on Friday night, said a statement of the provincial police office on Saturday.

JAKARTA -- Indonesia's Ministry of Health on Saturday said it has expanded its National Free Health Checkup Program to include colorectal cancer screening for high-risk individuals aged 45 and older.

"Our multi-layered approach begins with the Asia Pacific colorectal screening questionnaire, followed by a digital rectal exam and a fecal occult blood test for high-risk individuals," Deputy Minister of Health Dante Saksono Harbuwono was quoted by local media as saying.
