LUSAKA, May 30 (Xinhua) -- The Zambian Ministry of Health said late Friday that two suspected Ebola cases in the country turned out negative after laboratory tests.

In a statement, the ministry said it is using a whole-of-government and whole-of-society approach to stop the entry of Ebola into the country, adding that it has developed Ebola screening tools and protocols at points of entry.

According to the statement, the government has identified and assessed facilities to house individuals suspected of being infected with the Ebola virus, as well as ensuring adequate capacity to detect or diagnose Ebola through mobile laboratories and at the country's highest referral hospital in Lusaka.

The government is working with development partners like the World Health Organization and the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to increase the availability of appropriate supportive medical measures, including diagnostics, supportive treatment, and personal protection equipment, it said.

Zambia borders the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where an Ebola outbreak has recently been reported, prompting the Zambian authorities to step up preventive measures.
